the holidays are over

well, its official...the holidays are over. we took our christmas tree down this weekend, my poinsettia is nearly bare (although that could be because of my lack of a green thumb) and the christmas music channels are now silent. i have to admit, im a little sad. even though the holidays normally create a lot of panic and stress for many people, i have to say i love them. i even love elbowing my way through crowds doing christmas shopping. call me crazy :)

we went to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit today at the National History Museum. it was our first time to the museum, and im glad that we went. the building itself is amazing, it is housed in the Waterhouse building, here is the link if youre interested.

anyway, the exhibit was great, there were winners and runner ups presented for a variety of categories. i have to say though, the winning photographer didnt impress brian or i, or our friends that we went with. i think the most interesting categories they had were the childrens competitions. They had one for kids under 10, 11-14 and 15-17. To see the photographs that the under 10s produced were amazing! made me start thinking more about that dSLR camera ive been wanting...

i hope you all had a nice weekend and a happy new year!
